Engineeringin Cataclysm Classic remains a powerful profession still desired by manyclasses. In this guide we will go over all the different items players withEngineering may use, the easiest way to level Engineering, and the differentoptions offered by each Engineering specialization.

Engineeringvarious metals and stones to craft a wide array of items. Guide to Mining is a great complement toEngineering, as having Mining will allow you to farm the vast majority ofmaterials you will need to both train and utilize Engineering for crafted itemin the endgame. Due to the amount of bars used to craft items near max skilllevel, it can get extremely costly very quickly; having mining greatly mitigatesthis cost.

In Cataclysm, you no longer need to visit different trainers to learn newranks of Engineering.Every trainer will now be able to each you all ranks in any major city.

Engineeringspecializations in Cataclysm are very minor, having little difference betweenthe two. The main difference will be Big Daddy, making Goblin the idealchoice for maximizing damage.

To become a Gnomish Engineer, you will need to complete the questGnomish Engineering, this requires you to turn in:

• 1 × Accurate Scope
• 2 × Advanced Target Dummy

Gnomish Engineering mostly focuses on fun items, offering no real advantagein combat. Gnomish Gravity Well is the only new craft in Cataclysm,giving you a fun toy you can use or sell.

To become a Goblin Engineer, you will need to complete the questGoblin Engineering. This requires you to turn in:

• 20 × Big Iron Bomb
• 20 × Solid Dynamite
• 5 × Explosive Sheep

Goblin Engineering primarily focuses on explosives, being the better choiceif you are trying to maximize your damage.

In Cataclysm, you can easily swap your Guide to Engineering specializationbetween Goblin and Gnomish without needing to re-level the profession again.Simply speak with Narain Soothfancy in Tanaris, and for a fee of 150gold, you can switch your specialization at will. After unlearning yourcurrent specialization, use the Soothsaying for Dummies to pick yournew specialization.

Engineeringhas many unique enchants, gadgets, and gizmos that improve your character in moreways that just raw stats. These gadgets are lost if you get rid of Engineering.In addition to the enchants below, Engineers can craft a handful of trinkets,helmets, and explosives to further improve their characters, making Engineeringa powerful profession choice.
